Kreeta reminisced that one Sunday on a trip to St. Petersburg she suddenly had a foreboding feeling when thinking about how her children were doing at home. Kreeta’s mother usually took care of the children during the journeys. This time homecoming actually proved sad because her children Kalle and Matilda had passed away: “And when we came home we heard that two of our children had been buried on that same Sunday. The youngest and third youngest had died of a throat disease. That was a real sorrow, but I still thanked God for taking my children into his care.” (Lilius 1990, 82)
