Konsta Jylhä’s song Hurmuri (Charmer) is based on real events. A local farmer, Väinö, had an old and slow horse called Hurmuri. Väinö and Hurmuri would travel daily along Pajalantie road by Konsta’s house, and Konsta would hear Hurmuri’s hoofs clopping to a unique rhythm. The children of the village liked Hurmuri and Väinö, and they often got a ride in the cart when Väinö went to fetch hay. Konsta was also fond of Hurmuri and always referred to the horse as “he”. Finally, Konsta composed a song dedicated to Hurmuri. The song’s rhythm evokes the slow clopping of Hurmuri’s hoofs.
